You Can See Everything (2026) Movie Synopsis
You Can See Everything is a groundbreaking, surrealist meta-documentary distributed by A24 that masterfully strips away the layers of truth, perception, and performance. The premise centers around disgraced Silicon Valley entrepreneur and Theranos founder, Elizabeth Holmes. Exactly thirty-four days before she is scheduled to surrender and report to a United States federal prison to serve her lengthy sentence for massive investor fraud, Holmes makes an unexpected move. She opens the doors of her rented San Diego beach property and invites a deeply skeptical film crew to document her final weeks of freedom.
What initially promises to be a standard, intimate character study rapidly spirals over a three-year period into a mind-bending, claustrophobic hall of mirrors. Co-director Nathan Fielder dynamically embeds himself into the household, capturing the eerie domestic tranquility shared by Holmes, her partner Billy Evans, and their two young children. Rather than showing remorse, the couple attempts to shape their narrative—even absurdly drafting plans for a laser-based "Theranos 2.0". However, Fielder’s signature brand of uncomfortably prolonged silences and deadpan scrutiny constantly pushes back against Holmes's carefully constructed veneer.
The narrative shatters standard genre boundaries during its second half when Holmes enters prison. The filmmakers pivot toward a complex meta-exploration of deception. In one of the movie's most talked-about sequences, Fielder brings in actress Amanda Seyfried—who previously won acclaim portraying Holmes in the scripted miniseries The Dropout—to watch and react to footage of the real Holmes reacting to Seyfried's own performance. Layered with bizarre reenactments, shifting frames, and manipulation tactics, the film transitions from a profile of a convicted felon into a gripping, psychological horror story about the terrifying elasticity of facts in modern media.
