Official Movie Synopsis
Four years after the reality-shattering multiversal events of his previous adventure, Peter Parker finds himself navigating an agonizingly isolated path. Thanks to Doctor Strange's universe-protecting memory wipe, the world has entirely forgotten that Peter exists, stripping him of his high-tech Stark safety nets and separating him completely from his loved ones, MJ and Ned, who are moving forward with their college lives at MIT without him. Now living as an anonymous, struggling young adult in a cramped apartment, Peter works grueling freelance photography gigs for a hostile media landscape while dedicating his entire existence to full-time street-level crime fighting as Spider-Man.
However, the suffocating emotional weight of profound loneliness, psychological trauma, and physical exhaustion triggers an unexpected evolutionary transformation within his spider powers. As Peter copes with these volatile biological shifts, including newly developed organic web capabilities, New York City faces an unsettling wave of street-level terror. Rising to exploit the shifting underworld territory are ruthless criminal syndicates led by heavy hitters like Mac Gargan, who is ready to unleash his devastating Scorpion persona, and the imposing crime lord Tombstone.
The localized conflict escalates dramatically into a multi-issue comic arc style crisis when the Department of Damage Control loses custody of a captured mutant. This introduces Jean Grey, a profoundly alienated teenager struggling to handle terrifying, unguided telepathic and telekinetic forces. As Spider-Man attempts to help the lost soul while evading the aggressive, military-grade tracking of Damage Control Agent Metzger, his path collides with veteran street-level vigilante Frank Castle, the Punisher, who is targeting the emerging syndicates with lethal force. To survive a chaotic, three-way tactical battle involving the military, the Punisher, and a rampaging Bruce Banner, Peter Parker must learn to embrace his painful adulthood transition. He must choose between hiding beneath his heavy mask or re-engaging with a world that has entirely forgotten his name.
