Synopsis: Rose (2026)
Set during the 17th century in the wake of the Thirty Years' War, Rose follows a mysterious soldier who arrives alone during the bitter winter at an isolated, tight-knit Protestant village in Germany. Carrying a bag of gold, proper documentation, and deep local historical knowledge, the newcomer lays claim to a long-abandoned, run-down rural farmstead.
Beneath the hardened exterior of the soldier—introduced by an omniscient narrator as Rose—lies a woman disguised as a man, striving to carve out independence and social standing within a stifling patriarchal society. Initially met with intense suspicion and doubt from the local villagers and landowners, Rose earns hard-won respect after bravely slaying a bear attacking a farmhand and turning the barren soil fertile through relentless labor. However, as local scrutiny intensifies and secrets begin to unravel, the community forces a dangerous reckoning that challenges the absolute certainties of the social order.
