Apollo 18 Movie Trailer

Remember the historic tragic disaster that was Apollo 18?  No? Don't remember an Apollo 18 mission?

Well here's the reason... massive cover up!

But... some footage escaped and will end up in hundreds of theatres and eventually Millions of DVDs.

Ummm... yeah.

I'm tired of the fake documentary format too. Blair Witch Project was ok... for what it was...back then. I haven't seen Paranormal Activity. I heard fun things though. But honestly, I'm not a horror film fan. Cause... I don't get scared watching movies. I can't turn my critical mind off to the point where I experience fear. I'm in a theatre or the comfort of my home. Watching a MOVIE.  Honestly...I'm not gonna get scared cause someone is bleeding fake blood.

But that's just me.

This trailer looks interesting. I see the potential. There's the whole conspiracy vibe. There's the whole retro feel. Outer space is scary. The unknown is scary. Monsters are scary. Claustrophobia. Limited resources. Limited technology.

So if one is into scary films... there's potential.

Apollo 18 is scheduled for release September 2, 2011.  The film is directed by Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego.

War Horse Movie Trailer

It's always special when Steven Spielberg directs a film. But when the movie is marketed for awards season, we know that we might have something potentially epic on our hands. I've heard very little about the film War Horse, which is great. I'm sick of knowing everything about a movie before it comes out. Apparently, War Horse was originally a children's book...then was adapted to a play , which eventually got the attention of the legendary director.

War Horse is scheduled for release December 28, 2011.  It stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom HiddlestonDavid Thewlis and Emily Watson

War Horse synopsis:

"From director Steven Spielberg comes “War Horse,” an epic adventure for audiences of all ages. Set against a sweeping canvas of rural England and Europe during the First World War, “War Horse” begins with the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him. When they are forcefully parted, the film follows the extraordinary journey of the horse as he moves through the war, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets—British cavalry, German soldiers, and a French farmer and his granddaughter—before the story reaches its emotional climax in the heart of No Man’s Land. The First World War is experienced through the journey of this horse—an odyssey of joy and sorrow, passionate friendship and high adventure. “War Horse” is one of the great stories of friendship and war—a successful book, it was turned into a hugely successful international theatrical hit that is arriving on Broadway next year. It now comes to screen in an epic adaptation by one of the great directors in film history."

Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol Teaser trailer

I'm a fan of the Mission Impossible franchise. Although generally uneven, I think they are all good summer popcorn movies. The first Mission Impossible film was fun. Loved seeing Jean Reno work off of Tom Cruise. I also liked the international feel of the piece.  Mission Impossible II  was more of a star vehicle for Tom Cruise and a showcase for director John Woo. Honestly, I remember liking some of the action...but I couldn't tell you anything about the movie's plot. Mission Impossible III was perhaps the most faithful adaptation from the television show and actually featured an elite team...not just Tom Cruise being super spy. I initially heard that this new movie was sort of a transition film, a passing of the torch if you will, with Jeremy Renner taking over the franchise. But it sure doesn't seem that way in this trailer. This looks like another full-blown Tom Cruise action adventure movie.

Which is fine with me.

Mission Impossible Ghost Protocal  Is scheduled for release December 15, 2011.  It is directed by Brad Bird.

Brave Movie teaser trailer

Here's the teaser trailer for next Pixar / Disney film Brave.  There are very few sure things in life... but pretty much anything by Pixar is a sure fire box office hit and winner. This is their first foray into an action adventure epic. With the unlimited creative canvas of computer animation at their disposal...we can likely expect greatness.

Official Synopsis:

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious higlands of Scotland. In "Brave, " a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts.

Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor. Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defiense an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin , surly Lord Macintosh and cantankerous Lord Dingwall. Merida's actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old witch for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it's too late.

Brave opens June 22, 2012.  The film stars Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly, and Kelly McDonald. It is directed by Mark Andrews .

Sonic Generations Demo Gameplay Video

In celebration of Sonic the Hedgehog's 20th Anniversary, Team Sonic decided to release a playable demo of their next big Sonic game, entitled Sonic Generations, even though the game won't be available until later this year on November 22, 2011, for the Xbox 360, PS3, and Nintendo 3DS.

The playable demo will be available for only 20 days, June 23 to July 12, so if you're a fan of the extremely popular franchise, or just want to give the demo a whirl, and own an Xbox 360 and/or PS3, then you best get downloading so you, too, can reminisce about past Sonic the Hedgehog games!

In case the five of you out there who doesn't know, Sonic Generations is an action-adventure platformer and will be bringing 20 years of Sonic history to the game which includes three Sonic eras; Classic, Dreamcast and Modern.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited about this game. The second I played the demo, I knew that Sonic the Hedgehog was back in all his supersonic glory!

The demo kicked major ass to say the least.

Below is a demo gameplay video of Classic Sonic's Green Hill Zone, and offers a brief glimpse of the extremely fast gameplay!

Footloose 2011 movie trailer

Let's dance?

Ummm...no. Today we are presenting the official trailer to the NEW Footloose. Which is based on the Broadway musical...which was based on the the 80's film starring Kevin Bacon.

Unfortunately...I can't predict good things for this movie. The truth is the idea of dancing being banned from a town was ridiculous even in the 80's. No matter how small minded a town was. I can't imagine the idea being believably realistic to modern day audiences. Not with shows like So you think you can dance? and Dancing with the Stars popular on television. Not to mention MTV. I think dancing as a positive outlet of expression has pretty much been proven...right?

The only reason why the 80's movie did so well was because everybody wanted Lori Singer... and her red cowboy boots. Although... Julianne Hough is pretty damn hot as well.

Footloose is scheduled for release October 14, 2011. The film stars Dennis Quaid, Julianne Hough and Kenny Wormald. It is directed by Craig Brewer.

Captain America: The First Avenger Movie Trailer

Arguably, one of the most anticipated movies of the summer is the final pre-Avengers Marvel Studios film Captain America. The film is the final set-up and character origin story to the ultimate fan boy team up movie The Avengers scheduled to be released May 4, 2012.

I'm liking what I see in this trailer. I think Captain America is a difficult character to grasp because of the whole American nationalistic feel of the character. If done wrong it can come off as corny... or worse... plain ridiculous with his red white and blue costume. Setting the film in World War II is a great way to overcome that stigma and is also faithful to the comics origins.

Captain America is scheduled for release July 22, 2011. The film stars Chris Evans, Tommy Lee Jones,  and Hugo Weaving. It is directed by Joe Johnston.

The Muppets 2011 - Official Movie Trailer

Got to hand it to the folks at Disney for their online ad campaign for promoting the upcoming movie The Muppets. Obviously they are marketing the film to nostalgic adults with the use of parody trailers.. and we're ALL falling for it. First they made fun of romantic comedies, then there was a Hangover II parody, then a Green Lantern parody. Today we finally get a proper official trailer and it looks great!

I mean who doesn't LOVE The Muppets? I guess one can argue that the film is probably more appropriate for kids...which is perfect...since the makers of the film know we're all kids at heart.

The Muppets (2011) is scheduled for release November 23, 2011. The film stars Jason Segal, Amy Adams ... Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.

Conan the Barbarian 3D - Red Band Movie Trailer

I loved the original Conan The Barbarian. Obviously... I'm not alone in that sentiment since the film turned Arnold Schwarznegger into an international movie star and arguably... into the Governor of California. I'm not sure that the franchise needed a reboot. The original film still plays pretty damn well decades later.

But the greedy movie studio powers-that-be saw fit to remake the film for a modern audience... and in 3D no less. Although, I usually would refrain from endorsing something like this, my appreciation of  Jason Momoa's work in Game of Thrones has heightened my
curiosity for this film.

Conan The Barbarian 3D is scheduled for release August 19th, 2011. Conan The Barbarian 3D stars Jason Momoa, Rachel NicholsStephen Lang, Rose McGowan and Ron Pearlman.  It is directed by Marcus Nispel.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - International Trailer

Everybody loves a good origin story right?  RIGHT?!!

Well... actually... I wouldn't be surprised if everyone was SICK of them by now. I know I am. The latest franchise to recieve the treatment is this reboot of the Planet of the Apes. I do, however, have to admit the more I see of this movie...the more interested I become. I love the concept of science gone wrong. It's especially poignant when the intentions are honorable...which is usually the case in real life. What makes this film even MORE intriguing is that the special effects are being handled by the folks at Weta Digital, who famously created the uneven, yet impressive special effects extravaganza King Kong directed by Peter Jackson. They've even cast Andy Serkis who played Gollum so well in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy as Caesar.

The Rise of the Planet of the Apes    stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, and Brian Cox. It is directed by Rupert Wyatt and is scheduled for release in the United States August 5th, 2011.

Cowboys and Aliens trailer

Here's an extended trailer for the film Cowboys and Aliens. This clip was featured on the Spike Channel's Guys Choice Awards. This is definitely my most anticipated film of the summer. I love how the film blends two of my favorite film genres, westerns and science fiction. The film stars Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde and Harrison Ford . It is directed by Jon Favreau and Executive produced by Steven Spielberg.

Cowboys and Aliens is scheduled for release July 29th, 2011.

Red Faction: Armageddon Video Walkthrough

Two notable games have been released this week; inFamous 2 and Red Faction: Armageddon. I chose to make a video walkthrough of the latter because of one simple fact: I like blowing sh*t up and destroying anything and everything I see!

A bit about Red Faction: Armageddon:

Unlike it's predecessor, Red Faction: Guerrilla, this game isn't open-ended or has sandbox style of gameplay, it's linear, which means you take a predefined path, you can't just go anywhere and everywhere you want.

Red Faction: Armageddon is set 50 years after the original game, in 2170 and takes place on Mars. The planet is being overran by Martian creatures, and causing an underground Armageddon(hence the name).

You take on the role as Darius Mason, the grandson of Alec Mason and Samanya, the heroes of the first game. It's your job to do what no one else can(or wants to for that matter) and that's to obliterate every last one of them sons of bi*ches! So people can once again live peacefully without having to worry about being ravaged by alien monsters from hell. That and stopping said alien monsters from destroying the Terraformer, a machine that allows the red planet to be more like Earth, atmosphere-wise, and if that machine is taken offline, no one will ever be able to live on the planet again.

Below are the first two parts of my Red Faction: Armageddon video walkthrough:

(NOTE: Also, here's the playlist of the video walkthrough which is in order(work-in-progress)!

Fright Night Sneak Peek Trailer

I have fond memories of the original Fright Night. I remember that it was one of the first movies that I had seen to intentionally make me laugh and at the same time freak me the hell out. Back then movies were either campy or scary. Not really both... like many films are now. Also back in the 80's Vampires were all but dead. A silly old school monster that didn't really scare anybody. But Fright Night changed all of that. They eventually followed it up with a sequel. I wasn't too crazy about the second Fright Night... but I don't remember it being horrible.

I guess with Hollywood going crazy with remake fever it was just a matter of time that they'd remake this property with a new effects-filled version. It's especially timely since Vampires are all the rage now.

Fright Night  (2011) Does have a pretty impressive cast which includes Colin Farrell, David Tennant, Anton Yelchin  Toni Collette and Christopher Mintz- Plasse.

Fright Night 2011 is scheduled for release August 19, 2011

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN Part 1 Teaser Trailer

Here's the trailer for the first part of Breaking Dawn from The Twilight Saga.  To be completely honest I haven't really gotten into the whole Teen Vampire, werewolves craze. But I know there are a huge number of fans out there who are totally into this franchise. I've seen all the films to this point, well most parts...while channel surfing on cable and I figure I might as well finish the franchise off. Apparently Bella and Edward do the deed in this next film. Thank god... cause the unrequited lust was beginning to get a little stale. The film stars Kristen StewartRobert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Dakota Fanning and hottie Ashley Greene. The film is directed by Academy Award nominee Bill Condon.

The film is scheduled for release November 18, 2011. Part 2 is scheduled for release November 16, 2012.

Super 8 Trailer

This past weekend the latest trailer for the J.J. Abrams directed and Steven Spielberg produced film Super 8  premiered. The film has garnered intense scrutiny for its highly secretive plot and mysterious internet viral campaign. This of course is old hat for J.J. Abrams who used a similar campaign for his film Cloverfield. I'm interested in how the film does at the Box Office. It seems to me that using a mystery filled viral campaign usually leads to intense disappointment. Simply because a film can never live up to the imagination and anticipation of the audience. When the initial trailer premiered people were speculating that the film could be a prequel or sequel to a variety of Steven Spielberg properties such as E.T. , Close Encounters of the Third Kind or even Gremlins. According to early reviews it is none of those things. It's simply a tale about aspiring filmmaking youths caught up in extraordinary circumstances involving the military and an escaped alien. Which is okay... and interesting none the less...but couldn't they have just told us all this earlier... instead of being so secretive and building up expectations?

Super 8 premieres June 10, 2011 and is rated PG-13.

Moneyball Movie Trailer

Moneyball was an interesting... if not controversial concept when the idea was introduced into baseball. If one is unfamiliar with the term, the general premise is that popular statistics used to evaluate talent in baseball such as batting average and runs batted in are statistics that are over-rated in building a successful team. Moneyball theorizes that statistics that SHOULD be valued more in evaluating talent are slugging percentage and on-base percentage... because those statistics increase a team's potential to score runs...and thus win games.

The term inherited it's namesake from a bestselling book titled Moneyball: The Art of winning an unfair game by Michael Lewis which chronicled the rise of the Oakland Athletics in 2002 when Billy Beane used the sabermetrics valued in Moneyball to build a playoff team... despite having one of the smallest payrolls in Major League Baseball.

It was only a matter of time before the book was adapted into a film. The film stars Brad Pitt, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jonah Hill. It is directed by Bennett Miller and was adapted for the screen by Aaron Sorkin, Steven Zallian and Stan Chervin. Check out the trailer.

To be honest, I'm still not sold on the general premise of Moneyball, although one can point out that the principles discussed in the book are effective... the truth is that a World Series Championship team has yet to be produced from it's theories.

Looks like an interesting film though.

Moneyball is scheduled for release September 23, 2011.
