Official Synopsis

Welcome to Widow’s Bay, a picturesque yet profoundly eerie island community situated 40 miles off the scenic New England coast. The freshman Apple TV+ supernatural horror-comedy series follows Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys), a deeply insecure and recently widowed father determined to revitalize his struggling town. To build a secure future for his teenage son, Evan, Tom launches a grand modernization initiative to transform the isolated cove into a bustling, upscale tourist hotspot. However, pushing a small town into the modern era is no easy task—especially when the island suffers from non-existent Wi-Fi, completely spotty cellular reception, and fiercely stubborn residents.

As Tom attempts to install espresso machines and court travel writers, he faces aggressive pushback from the superstitious locals led by grizzled boat captain Wyck Crawford (Stephen Root). The longtime residents vehemently warn that the island suffers from a centuries-old curse dating back to 1702. According to local lore, the town is plagued by a cyclical history of supernatural evils, devouring mists, and terrifying phenomena that awaken whenever outsiders overstep. Tom works tirelessly to debunk these "tall tales" to protect his tourism campaign, even going so far as to spend a night alone in a notoriously haunted local inn.

Miraculously, Tom's marketing push succeeds, and a massive wave of tourists descends onto the island. Unfortunately for Tom, the eccentric locals were completely right. Decades of calm abruptly shatter as a dense, suffocating fog rolls in, church bells toll without human hands, and ancient legends start manifesting in horrifying ways. Backed by his deadpan assistant Patricia Moyer (Kate O'Flynn) and Sheriff Bechir Clemmons (Kevin Carroll), Mayor Loftis must survive killer clowns, vengeful spirits, and civic collapse.
