Hitchcock – Official Movie Trailer 2012

One of the most intriguing films to be featured this award season is the biopic Hitchcock. The film chronicles the story of the making of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic film Psycho. Against this iconic backdrop, the film reveals the love story between Hitchcock and his wife Alma Reville.

This film is not to be confused with the upcoming HBO film The Girl starring Toby Jones as Hitchcock and Sienna Miller as Tippi Hedren.

Hitchcock stars Sir Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock. Which is the obvious selling point for this film. In fact, a lot of the charm or appeal of the movie will be how today’s stars portray classic stars of the 60’s such as James D’Arcy playing Anthony Perkins and Scarlett Johansson playing Janet Leigh.

Of course once that novelty wears off, what are we left with? As intriguing as a movie chronicling the making of Psycho sounds, it surely won’t be as good as the actual original film, right?

The trailer does look interesting though. It’s fun to see Hopkins as Hitchcock. And it’ll be entertaining to see how Hitchcock had to deal with censors, confused movie stars and nervous studio heads while making this classic film. I can’t wait to see the idiosyncrasies of the classic shower scene.  With a talented cast like this, the film has some award season pedigree,  but we’ll have to wait and see if the story has some dramatic chops or if  the film will be a two impersonation of the famous stars of old.
