I’ll watch anything Will Ferrell does.
The guy just cracks me up. His latest film Casa De Mi Padre looks especially amusing. The film, a parody of Telenovelas features a spanish speaking Will Ferrell and latino indie film stars Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna. It’s interesting that Bernal and Luna appear in the film, considering that most of their work tends to be dramatic, realistic and character driven. But it’s a testament to Ferrell’s affability and comedic talents that they would be willing to stretch out of their comfort zone to do an over-the-top, low brow comedic film. Obviously, seeing a two minute clip makes the movie look hilariously funny. But I do wonder how the format will hold up for two hours. I trust Will Ferrell and producer Adam McKay. In my opinion, they haven’t missed the comic mark yet. Sure some of their stuff is better than others. But everything can’t be a home run. Casa De Mi Padre does have the potential to be something hilariously memorable.
Casa De Mi Padre stars Will Ferrell, Genesis Rodriguez, Efren Ramirez, Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna. The film is directed by Matt Piedmont. Casa De Mi Padre is scheduled for release March 16, 2012. It is Rated R.
