When it comes to Christmas movies I tend to favor cynical films. I’d rather watch Bad Santa than It’s a Wonderful Life. Obviously, I’m probably in the minority. But when it comes to animation I’m sure we can all agree that Aardman Animations is arguably the pinnacle of the genre. This Christmas we get to see their take on the Christmas holiday with the film Arthur Christmas. The early teasers of the film didn’t give us much idea of the plot. We knew that a space ship was somehow involved and also an eccentric teenager. But the latest trailer reveals a fascinating look at how Christmas really works. Not only does the film seem to feature fun entertaining, characters but also outstanding visuals. Did I also mention that it was in 3D? In any event this film looks like a great holiday family film. A movie that will keep the kids entertained while not boring the parents to tears.
Arthur Christmas features the vocal talents of James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Bill Nighy, Jim Broadbent and Imelda Staunton. Arthur Christmas is scheduled for release November 23, 2011. Arthur Christmas is directed by Sarah Smith and writen by Peter Baynham and Sarah Smith.
Arthur Christmas reveals the incredible, never-before seen answer to every child’s question: ‘So how does Santa deliver all those presents in one night?’ The answer: Santa’s exhilarating, ultra-high-tech operation hidden beneath the North Pole. But at the center of the film is a story about a family in a state of comic dysfunction and an unlikely hero, Arthur, with an urgent mission that must be completed before Christmas morning dawns.
